Hey Fly friends! Last Friday, I was invited to attend #MonroeSteelesTheCrown, a Happy Hour event at The Crown Rooftop at 50 Bowery Hotel hosted by fellow blogger, who I love and adore, Monroe Steele of Fashion Steele NYC.
I’ve been following and loving her brand since I stumbled across her blog back in 2014, when blogging wasn’t the “thing” that it is now and there were only a few people who had the streets buzzing — Monroe was one of them. Her style has always been on point and she was the first woman I’ve ever seen rock Senegalese Twists before natural hair was a movement. So, when she sent me an invite — it was no brainer, I was there! Along with my partner-in-crime (my cousin) we headed out to the city for what I was sure to be a good time.
Just don’t do like we did and cab it to the Bowery Hotel, instead of 50 Bowery — there’s a difference! Took us another 15 minutes to try to hail a cab and 36 mins (I had to give the Uber driver directions down the block. He would ask at every light “Keep going?” and we would reply “Yes, sir. Keep going. It’s 50 Bowery.”) to get there. New York always leaves you with a good story to tell, lol.
Once we arrived and took the elevator up to “R,” everything was tres chic! There’s nothing like a city scene, no matter where you are but, The Crown rooftop views of downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn and even glimpses of Jersey were beyond breathtaking. A must see, for sure!
Flute glasses filled with one of the many bottles of La Farra Prosecco Veneto and tortilla chips and guac for everyone to share, a stunning hand-selected group of go-getting brown women were connecting and celebrating each other’s company. To be able to share and experience my Friday night with this group of women was perfection. Gob well done, Monroe!
After years of connecting online and social media, like most bloggers do, Monroe and I finally met and I couldn’t be happier! I can rave about this queen all day and, after meeting her, it’s clear her online persona is how she really is … BOMB. Chyleee, that’s not always the case but, I’m so thankful it was with Monroe. Make sure you her out on Fashion Steele NYC; she serves killer looks, in amazing locations, all while inspiring you and giving all kinds of face.
A night of …
Doctors, Nurses, Mothers, Fellow Bloggers …
… all coming together …
to celebrate living our best life!
NYC, I love you!

You know it’s a good night when you don’t want it to end. I left feeling fulfilled and also wanting more. YASS! Monroe, thank you for putting together such an amazing event and inviting me to be a part of it! If you get one thing out of this, I encourage you all to live your best life. Say yes to the invite. Have another glass. Take a moment to soak in the views. Say hi to someone you don’t know. It may turn into a lifelong connection. People, live. We only have one life to do so let’s make the best of it!
until next time,
