Hey beautiful people! You all know I’m trying to be more conscious about what I eat. Smoothies have always been my go-to for an on-the go breakfast, easy lunches when, even salads are too complicated and the perfect snack that will keep you full for hours!
To be very honest, this is a recipe for a smoothie I used to order at an over-priced deli near one of my old jobs. The dang on thing was $8 — more than the Panini and ginger-ale I used to order for lunch! Hmph. The job wasn’t paying enough and my moral conscience knew better than to keep that up! So, I made a mental note of the ingredients, came home and made my own! It’s been a go ever since …
do not judge my honey. It got the job done, lol!
Trying to recreate the recipe was actually the first time I tried almond milk. Since, I have tried coconut but, almond still remains my favorite, solely for the simple reason I’ve never been too fond of the coconut taste. Yes, I know — I’m weird. We’ve established this already.
Coco & Click is about doing all things fabulously on a budget so if you have one of those fancy and expensive blenders, cool .. but besides it being a little (okay a lot) noisy, I have no complaints about this Magic Bullet for making smoothies! It’s actually kind of perfect being that I have never tried any other method, lol!
Ingredients:
- 1 whole banana
- 1/4 apple, sometimes I add up to 3/4 of apples and I always use Granny Smith. Just preference.
- a squirt of honey
- a spoonful or two of peanut butter, based on preference. The PB has a strong taste.
- about a 1 cup of almond milk
- a few cubes of ice
Add all ingredients in the blender, adding the almond milk 1/2 cup at a time as needed. For thinner shakes, add more almond milk.
Resulting in a delicious, nutritious smoothie that will have you ready to tackle any task! If you try this recipe, let me know! Leave a comment here and tag it #cocoandclickeats on Instagram! I’d love to know what you think!
Until next time …
xo,
STACi P.
